About the winery

Vineyard certified High Environmental Value, Château La Tour Blanche is located on one of the gravelly ridges of Sauternes. This terroir allows it to produce gourmet, harmonious and balanced wines.

Founded in the 18th century, Château La Tour Blanche, Sauternes 1er Cru Classé in 1855, is a 46 hectare estate located in Bommes. When he died, its last owner, Daniel "Osiris" Iffla, donated it to the French State on condition that a practical and free School of Viticulture and Oenology be created on site.

Today the Château La Tour Blanche welcomes you for visits every day from Monday to Friday!

Meet the team

The La Tour Blanche estate was founded in the last quarter of the 18th century by Monsieur de Latour Blanche, a squire and councilor in the Bordeaux parliament. Frédéric Focke succeeded him as head of the property, a German who, according to legend, was responsible for discovering the benefits of botrytis. Then, during the French Revolution, Pierre Pécherie took over. The estate was classified in 1855, ranking first among the Premiers Crus Classés, after Yquem, which was classified as an Exceptional Growth.
